A sweet oldies jam from Chess Records. Mama Didn’t Lie was written by Curtis Mayfield and released in 1963. It got up to #8 R&B and #14 on the Billboard Hot 100. Major Lance has a similar song “Mama Didn’t Know” which is also great.

Mang’s good chum Le Viz, aka Saint Heck, created this new track “Trace of You”. He’s looking for MCs to rap over it, so get in touch if you want to collaborate.
Note: There’s a audio stamp “Le Viz on the beat”, so it isn’t pirated so easy like.

Kyu Sakamoto’s Sukiyaki (Ue Wo Muite Arukou) is an oldies jam I grew up listening to on Portland’s oldies radio station. It turns out to be a really sad song, about a heart broken guy, who is all alone and remembers the happy autumn days of his past.

A sweet Philly Soul Girls cut from the Sherwoods - “Cheaper by the Dozen”. Love the low-fi recording and group vocals. Check out the Philly Soul Girls compilation for more Philly Girl group jams.

An oldies gem from the Brooklyn brothers, Santo & Johnny. “Venus” is one of my favorites, second only to the all-time classic “Sleepwalk.”
